Saudi Arabia Launches $90m Coalition for Palestinian Authority, Rejects Normalization Without Statehood

by admin477351

Saudi Arabia has announced the creation of an emergency international coalition to provide direct financial support to the Palestinian Authority, pledging $90 million in initial funding. The move was confirmed by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan during a press conference in New York on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly.

Prince Faisal emphasized that normalization with Israel will not be possible without the establishment of a Palestinian state. He said the initiative runs parallel to the high-level ministerial meeting of the Global Alliance to Implement the Two-State Solution, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia, the European Union, and Norway. The meeting focused on turning the recently adopted New York Declaration into an actionable roadmap with timelines and monitoring mechanisms.

He highlighted that 159 countries now recognize Palestine, calling it “an irreversible reality backed by the will of the international community.” The action plan includes backing a ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring the territorial unity of the West Bank and Gaza, and strengthening the Palestinian Authority’s governance role.

Prince Faisal added that Saudi Arabia and its partners will continue working to achieve a just and lasting peace. He also revealed that Arab and Islamic leaders had cautioned U.S. President Donald Trump about the risks of Israeli annexation of the West Bank. “Ending the Gaza war will be the starting point for implementing the two-state solution,” he noted, underlining that it remains the only viable path to peace.
