Pakistan Deploys Troops to Saudi Arabia for Territorial Defence Under New Pact

by admin477351

Pakistan has confirmed the deployment of a significant number of military personnel to Saudi Arabia under a new joint defence agreement aimed at bolstering the kingdom’s territorial security. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan, the deployment is for defensive purposes only and is not intended to assist in cross-border attacks against Yemen’s Houthi forces.

The presence of Pakistani forces in Saudi Arabia is part of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, which was signed on August 7, 2026, by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye. This pact commits the three countries to treating an armed attack against one as an attack against all, thereby establishing a framework for closer regional security cooperation.

Pakistan’s military has confirmed that its personnel are engaged in various operational roles in Saudi Arabia under this agreement. The deployment emphasizes the defensive nature of the mission, focusing on safeguarding Saudi territory rather than engaging in offensive operations.

The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement reflects a strategic alliance among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye, underscoring their commitment to regional stability and mutual defence. This collaboration aims to enhance security ties and prepare for collective responses to potential threats faced by any of the member countries.

This development comes amidst ongoing regional tensions, where the security dynamics are continually shaped by geopolitical shifts and conflicts. The agreement is seen as a step towards strengthening regional alliances and ensuring a unified defence strategy among the signatories.
