FREELANDER is embarking on a transformative journey as it redefines itself amidst the evolving landscape of mobility, where experiences are increasingly shaped by intelligent technology and connectivity. As the automotive industry continues to advance, FREELANDER is positioning itself as a premium brand focused on intelligent mobility, targeting modern drivers and global markets. Originally launched in 1997, the Land Rover Freelander was known for blending all-terrain capability with passenger comfort and versatility, becoming a symbol of freedom and adventure in the urban off-road SUV segment.
From 1997 to 2002, the Land Rover Freelander reigned as Europe’s best-selling SUV, cementing its status as one of the most notable British SUVs of its time. Nearly three decades later, FREELANDER is reimagining its brand identity. Introduced at the IBS (Chery International Business Summit), the brand is stepping into a new era as a British premium intelligent all-terrain brand, a venture born out of collaboration between Jaguar Land Rover and Chery. This new strategy seeks to merge the brand’s rich heritage with intelligent technologies, connected ecosystems, and modern luxury mobility experiences.
In line with the shift in consumer preferences towards connected technologies and adaptable vehicles, FREELANDER is set to unveil six new SUV models over the next five years. The brand plans to expand its presence to over 90 countries, establishing more than 1,100 touchpoints worldwide. As a testament to its global vision, the Middle East has been chosen as FREELANDER’s first international strategic market, recognizing the region’s growing demand for intelligent mobility solutions. The company is building its future strategy on three pillars: British Craftsmanship, Smart Confidence, and All-Terrain Freedom.
The newly launched FREELANDER 8 epitomizes this strategy with features like panoramic digital displays, intelligent cockpit technologies, and second-row zero-gravity seating. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, the vehicle’s cockpit supports up to eight displays, offering an immersive and responsive user experience. Advanced driver assistance systems, including L2+ functionality and autonomous parking, enhance driving convenience. The i-ATS Intelligent All-Terrain System further underscores FREELANDER’s commitment to all-terrain capability, providing up to nine terrain modes for diverse driving conditions.
Operating through five strategic global hubs and supported by over 6,000 employees, FREELANDER emphasizes innovation and collaboration. The vehicles will be produced at the Chery Jaguar Land Rover Intelligent Manufacturing Base, integrating over 1,100 robotic operations to ensure manufacturing precision and quality. Through its latest transformation, FREELANDER is not only adapting to the shifts in mobility and exploration but is also poised to lead in intelligent mobility experiences, marking a new chapter in its storied history.
