Saudi Arabia is bracing for an unusually hot summer in 2026, as indicated by the latest seasonal climate forecasts from the National Center for Meteorology. The projections suggest that temperatures across all regions of the Kingdom will surpass normal levels, while rainfall is anticipated to remain average or fall below typical levels in several parts of the country.
In June, rainfall is expected to align with the seasonal averages across the nation. However, the forecast for July paints a different picture, with parts of Jazan, Baha, Asir, Makkah, Najran, and the Eastern Province likely to experience below-average rainfall. Other areas are projected to receive precipitation that matches normal expectations.
Temperature-wise, June could see increases of up to 1.5°C above normal in various regions, including Jazan, Baha, portions of Makkah and Asir, as well as Madinah, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, and Tabuk. This trend is expected to intensify in July and August, with temperatures potentially rising by as much as 1.6°C above average, particularly affecting Jazan, Baha, and parts of Asir and Makkah, making them some of the hottest areas in the country this summer.
Meteorological officials have emphasized the importance of staying informed through official weather updates and forecasts. They have urged the public and relevant sectors to closely monitor these updates to facilitate preparedness and planning in anticipation of the extreme heat conditions expected during this period.
