In a notable development for Arab stock markets, trading activity surged in July, with the volume of shares traded jumping by 28.82% compared to the previous month. This uptick in trading volume saw a rise to 261.86 billion shares in July from 203.27 billion shares in June. The Iraq Stock Exchange played a pivotal role in this increase, closely followed by Egypt’s contribution to the heightened activity.

Despite the rise in trading volume, the overall value of transactions experienced a decline, falling 16.82% to $90.24 billion in July from $108.48 billion in June. This decrease was observed across several key markets, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait, indicating a shift in market dynamics during the month.

Market performance varied across the region, with Egypt’s EGX30 index emerging as a strong performer, registering a gain of 5.85% over the month. This performance highlighted Egypt’s resilience amidst a backdrop of mixed results in other regional exchanges, some of which also posted gains.

Despite the fluctuations in transaction values and varied market performances, the combined market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges remained relatively steady. It saw a marginal increase of 0.06%, reaching an approximate total of $4.31 trillion. These figures underscore the robust trading activity in the region, even as transaction values waned and major equity markets displayed diverse outcomes.
