Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan have ratified a pivotal agreement to deploy military forces to Saudi Arabia in response to recent attacks by Yemen’s Houthi group. This decision was reached during an emergency meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the Mecca Alliance held in Riyadh.
Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman announced that the member states agreed to the deployment of military forces as part of their collective defense measures against the attacks targeting Saudi Arabia. The agreement underscores the cooperative defense strategy set by the Mecca Defense Alliance, which was established on August 7. Under this pact, an attack on one member is considered an attack on all, creating a unified framework for defense.
The deployment will be executed under existing arrangements and in accordance with the legal frameworks of the three countries. This move is a significant step in operationalizing the alliance’s collective defense commitments.
The agreement comes amid increasing hostilities in Yemen. Saudi-backed forces have launched a counteroffensive against Houthi fighters who recently captured territory, intensifying the ongoing conflict in the region.
The Mecca Defense Alliance marks a significant strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan, focusing on mutual defense and rapid military response capabilities. This latest development highlights the alliance’s commitment to maintaining regional stability and security in the face of external threats.
