by admin477351

In a collaborative effort to enhance food security in Yemen, Saudi Arabia’s KSrelief and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office have jointly committed to a $10 million project. This initiative is designed to assist vulnerable communities and bolster their resilience over the long term. Both entities will contribute equally, with $5 million each, towards this endeavor, which will be executed by the UN World Food Programme across several Yemeni governorates, including Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, Aden, Al-Dhale, and Lahij.

The project aims to provide conditional cash transfers to improve food accessibility and support the restoration of productive infrastructure. Moreover, it seeks to aid families in transitioning from dependency on emergency food aid to achieving greater self-sufficiency. This holistic approach not only addresses immediate food needs but also supports long-term community development and sustainability.

In addition to financial assistance, the project will include vocational training programs and support for local authorities. These elements are crucial for improving governance and ensuring the sustainable management of community resources. By fostering these aspects, the initiative aims to create a more resilient community infrastructure capable of withstanding future challenges.

This bilateral agreement highlights Saudi Arabia’s extensive humanitarian commitment, as evidenced by KSrelief’s involvement in more than 4,400 aid projects globally. Since 2015, KSrelief has allocated over $8.5 billion to aid efforts in 113 countries, showcasing its dedication to humanitarian causes worldwide.
